Hello all,

I apologize for not getting this organised earlier. I have been looking into dates for the owners club get together, how does May 26th - 28th suit everybody?

Re: Owners club weekend

A GREAT weekend, that is until 2:55am Sunday morning when "hewey" really let loose.  The storm front was proceeded by deafening noise (like a tornado) and then the thunder and lightning was followed by a torrential downpour which lasted for hours.  The campgrounds were more like a lake in some areas when we arose in the morning.

It was great to meet other owners and see and share what they have done to their rigs and the problems they have.  Lot of great "take-aways", both for Pioneer and everyone else, and I'm sure people will be quickly heading to eBay and Bunnings to follow up on ideas.

It was a great effort of Bob & Donna to travel all the way from the Hunter Valley (NSW) to join us, well done.

We did some great tracks on Saturday around the Howqua Hills and, of course, some great campfires.

To everyone who participated, great to catch up and share experiences with you all.  To Scott & Kylie, thanks for organising.  We had a great time.

A few pics - night time setups, around the campfire, camps and Fry's Hut, at the Slate Mine, fivesees around the campfire

Re: Owners club weekend

Thankyou Scott & Kylie, we really enjoyed the weekend.  Great location, plenty of laughs & plenty of good ideas from other owners.  Sorry that no one else saw the platypus..... it really was there... !!!

When the cyclone hit, it was a case of either get up in the wind & torrential rain & check guide ropes & awning or hide under the blankets in the camper... we chose the later !! ....Morning revealed not a drop of water inside & everything still perfect outside... good result Pioneer Onyx
!!!!

Hopefully some more photos & maybe even some Drone footage from Scott "look out for that tree" Forbes !!!

Re: Owners club weekend

Hi Scott & Kylie,

Thank you both for an amazing weekend!

While the weather tried it's best to ruin our weekend we were kept warm by entertaining stories and laughter.  Hope the drone is not too smashed up Scott as I am sure I one of several who can't wait to the pictures from the weekend!

Cheers,

Carys & Peter

Re: Owners club weekend

G’day Pioneer Owners
We had a fat old time in the mountains. Truly great meeting everyone. The fun didn’t stop….even the storm didn’t bother us….fixed a loose pole at 2:55 AM then back to a warm bed (we love our heater). Our ONYX stayed warm and dry the week we were travelling.
There were plenty of highlights, tips and tricks.
Loved the two big campfires, (party logs from 1770…NOT the year….supplied by Kev and Vicky). Big fat log supplied by Kylie and Donny. Cooking lessons from Carol, Ron, Pete and Charismatic (Lol), Pete playing the didgeridoo, travel and camping stories, 4WDING in the mountains (love Auto hill descent), checking out the different set-ups and ideas, (David and Vicky with sheep skins on camp chairs) talking to everyone about their campers, (Steve and Leone with a quick awning). All the great gear we saw and the modifications.  The list goes on.....
Scottie and Kylie went out of their way to help everyone and made the whole weekend camp very welcoming and friendly. Good job. A special thanks to Bill the Dog….Donny loves you.
We now have a long list of new products to purchase. (thanks everyone!!) new set-ups to try and new friends.
Thanks to Scottie for the photos and drone video (bugger about the tree..BANG…at least the drone fell to the ground)
Thanks to Ron for the beautiful photos.
Great photos and video on Pioneer Campers Facebook.
Thanks to everyone.
Just an idea for next time….anywhere in the bush…it’s all good.
We love our ONYX.
Bob & Donny

Re: Owners club weekend

Locations for next trip :

A few suggestions for next Pioneer trip.
Horseyard Flat....( off Moroka Rd. above Licola) high country, lovely spot, plenty of room, running water/fishing + can drive to the pinnacles fire tower  or drive the billy goats bluff or hike local trail.
Shaws Creek... ( off Tamboritha Rd.. above Licola)... approx. 1200m altitude + lovely creek / fishing + day drive to Pinnacles
Talbotville... Dargo area.  Can be 2wd, but safer to have 4wd to get there with camper in tow. Scenic + local gold mining history

Re: Owners club weekend

... another potential camp spot = top end of King Spur Track, about 3 klm from turnoff with Dargo High Plains Rd...... spectacular cliff top campsites, amazing views back toward Mt Hotham & Dinner Plain.  Plenty of room among the snow gums, but no dunnies or running water.  Daytime 4wd trip down to Mayford ( a mini Wonnangatta).. if it's dry, or a cruise up the Blue Rag Range.
